Blue Ridge Power is seeking a Lead PV Electrical Design Engineer to perform engineering and project support tasks for distributed generation and utility scale photovoltaic systems. Candidate will be the sealing engineer for the majority of the work produced by the team and also will act as the Project Manager from the PV design standpoint. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and results-oriented. This position will report to the Director of PV Design Engineering.

What You'll Do
- Lead and supervise a team of 2-4 engineers and drafters for PV projects.
- Create conceptual design layouts for PV power plants utilizing AutoCAD, PVCase, and in-house PV design software and tools.
- Create electrical site plans, array plans, construction details, and single line diagrams for utility Interconnection Applications, electrical permits, and construction documents.
- Perform electrical calculations for AC and DC cable sizing, underground cable thermal analysis, overhead medium voltage design, voltage drop, protection and coordination, grounding, arc flash analysis, and other design elements.
- Review and analyze utility pre-screen reports, system impact studies, and interconnection service agreements.
- Coordinate responses to construction RFIs and equipment submittals from vendors, sub-contractors and independent engineers.
- Provide technical support to Blue Ridge Power's development, procurement, construction, and O&M departments.
- Develop proficiency in NEC and other applicable state and local codes.
- Sign and seal engineering documents (drawings and reports).
- Perform basic functions of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD, PVcase, ETAP, and SAM.
- Interface well with employees at all levels.
- Additional duties as assigned and/or directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent Technology program.
- Professional Engineering license is required.
- AutoCAD proficiency.
- Knowledge of AC and DC electrical principles.
- Knowledge of National Electric Code and other standards relevant to the industry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
Nice to Haves
- 4+ years of PV Design Engineering experience preferred.
- PVcase, ETAP, and SAM proficiency preferred.
- Knowledge of medium voltage distribution and protection systems preferred.
- Knowledge of underground cable analysis preferred.
- Knowledge of arc flash analysis preferred.
- Knowledge of grounding analysis preferred.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent Technology program.
Working Environment and Physical Demand
- Remote based position with up to 10% travel as required - office and site visits.
- Must be able to sit/stand at a desk and utilize a computer, for extended periods of time.
