ADM Milling
This is a full-time, salaried position.
Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Purchasing Manager will lead Milling & Baking Solutions ingredient purchasing with a focus on our mix and package business, partner with our strategic procurement team & work closely with our M&BS commercial team. This manager level position is a critical role within our Supply Chain team & will support overall Supply Chain vision. The position, acting as part of the team, will be accountable for purchasing raw materials and/or the associated finished goods packaging materials to achieve optimum financial results. The position is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with internal and external raw material suppliers, including the handling of logistics, accounting, and other supplier related opportunities. This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, market knowledge, and employee development. As well as deploying purchasing strategies, partnering with strategic procurement & regional Supply Chain support.

- Procure M&BS ingredients with a focus on quality, cost and supply assurance
- Provide insight and support for the development and implementation of procurement concepts to meet the company’s business growth and sourcing requirements.

- Facilitate communication on raw material shortages, supply constraints & review delays impacting customer orders
- Effectively contribute to the accomplishment of profit improvement programs, cost reduction and avoidance programs; and cost controls through effective material purchasing
- Develop, maintain, and implement an active transportation import and export program for key raw materials
- Strategically seeks out new business opportunities that would profitably enhance company assets
- Strategizes & collaborates with suppliers in order to add value to both companies.
- Prepare & give presentations of influence to upper management as well as outside customers as required
- Attends training sessions external and internal to keep on top of new technology and innovation
- Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics, including discussions with corporate traffic department
- Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads, competitor activities & forms future business strategy
- Proficient understanding all information systems and process connected to the Supply Chain value chain
- Understands upper management strategic goals and drives goals of self and coworkers in accordance
- Works to make quick decisions in fast market environments while accepting the responsibility to explain the business logic through business planning and analytical presentations
- Develops superior knowledge of facility operations and guides operations through presentations and daily examples of cost saving and margin enhancing synergies
- Works cross functionally to coordinate purchasing activities within the overall organization, with a high level of focus on:
- Sales and Operations Planning Process.
- Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office & other locations
- Portrays a positive image of the company and self when interacting with customers & colleagues
- Prepares and submits daily & ad hoc reports
- Is instrumental in the development & training of new employees
- Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends based on business need
- Perform other duties as required.
- Four year University degree in Supply Chain or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience in the procurement of food, feed and/or flavor raw materials in North America. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment.
- Proven ability to assess business and financial risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
