Job Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will develop and manage key aspects of the supply change to ensure timely, cost sensitive delivery of components and supplies for a growing US based manufacture. He or she will collaborate with the management team to drive improvement of key metrics including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Inventory. The qualified candidate will have a can do attitude and be able to develop innovative solutions to today’s supply change problems.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies including Kanban systems
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
- Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
- Assess, manage and mitigate risks
- Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
- Negotiates with vendors for goods and services, negotiation the best possible price and service guarantee
- Establishes purchasing policies and ensure compliance
- Establishes account/credit and terms
- Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics
- Coordinate all international shipments for purchased goods including all paperwork required to have shipments clear customs in a timely manner
- Develops and tracks key supplier scorecards
- Manage other associates of the purchasing team
Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience applying Kanban systems that are not ERP system dependent
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Interest in market and commodity dynamics along with business sense
- A knack for negotiation and networking
- Ability to gather and analyze data and to make informed business decisions
- Innovative problem solver that finds solutions to supply chain challenges
- Lean manufacturing knowledge - preferred
- Experience integrating an ERP system - preferred
Education/Experience:
- High school or equivalent
- 3+ years of proven working experience as a Purchasing Manager, agent or officer - preferred
- BS degree in supply chain management, logistics or business administration - preferred.
