Focus on early risk identification; driving mitigation paths to successfully meet line start dates. Ensuring delivery and material flow is executed on each locomotive, in alignment with executive needs, while maintaining supply chain strategy goals.
Work cross-functionally to provide supply chain input and requirements from conception to production launch, representing supply chain as a key member on NPI/new orders. This position has no direct reports.

Key Job Elements
- Support various types of projects that include, but are not limited to product launches, product development, localization requirements, material transitions, and supply chain risk mitigation.
- Provide Supply Chain expertise, order management know-how in planning and execution of Implementation plan; to ensure minimal disruption to production.
- Effectively communicate, properly escalate exceptions, and issues.
- Monitor and manage launched projects until properly transitioned to production.
- Manage material readiness for multiple locomotive production orders exceeding $20M+, consisting of thousands of new designs with slim margin for sourcing errors.
- Provide analysis and lead-time data inputs to support decision making of product launch timing recommendations.
- Demonstrate focus upfront in order execution process for improved visibility, and press need for early design release through new process implementation, helping improve on-time-delivery metrics.
- Serve as liaison between engineering and supply-base, lending support for early requirement identification, drawing release, and drawing modification communication.
- Conduct frequent supply chain readiness reviews with cross-functional team members with intent of encouraging participation and transparency for seeking out roadblocks, possible opportunities, and mitigation strategies impacting order execution success.
- Construct What-if scenario analysis, on an as needed basis, to determine supply chain’s ability to support business needs.
- Run material shortage reports, analyze metrics, and action shortages/past due items as part of order health status maintenance, keeping the business informed of any risks.
- Develop top list of components to drive early material release through organizational processes.
- Take primary lead on project ownership, critical risk mitigation, material impacts from a supply chain perspective.
- Communicate material status and foreseeable risks to plant planning organization ahead of production line starts.
- Identify non-recurring costs and drive ownership to the responsible parties on early development.
- Work with locomotive assembly plant to minimize downtime and the impact of schedule changes.
- Identify supplier weaknesses and suggest improvements to improve delivery performance.
- Collaborate with category and supplier quality teams to develop supply base.
Education / Training
- B.S. in Supply Chain Management, Engineering or equivalent training and experience.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing company within supply chain, operations, or product management group.
- Experience analyzing large data sets and presenting insights to senior leadership teams.
- Ability to create processes, execute process improvements and lead cross functional project teams.
- Strong analytical skills using Microsoft Excel. High proficiency in pivot tables, SUMIF, COUNTIF, and Vlookup functions required.
- Outstanding Project Management skills required.
- Able to successfully manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload while paying attention to detail.
- Able to take a complex series of constraints and task interactions to establish optimal path forward for project in support of required timelines.
- Proven ability to communicate at all levels, excellent negotiation skills.
- Self-directed problem solver with a high sense of urgency; acting independently upon information to make decisions that achieve optimal results.
- Highly analytical with proven skills in utilizing the various features of spreadsheet and basic software to create tools and track results (SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other proprietary software) for data driven analysis and decision making.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to influence without direct control to effectively accomplish program goals.
- Ability to read general prints and details of locomotive features/EDL’s.
- Experience in MS Project, MS Visio, MS Exchange preferred.
- Previous Supply Chain experienced required.
- Previous ERP experience required (LN or SAP preferred).
