Purchasing & Vendor Management Specialist (Hybrid) – Des Plaines, IL
$50,000 - $60,000/Annually + Bonus + Profit Sharing + Flexible Hybrid Work Model
We are hiring a talented and driven Purchasing & Vendor Management Specialist! This is a hybrid position – three days in the office, two days’ work from home.
As a successful Purchasing & Vendor Management Specialist, you must be proactive in addressing client’s needs through excellent communication and negotiations skills.

Purchasing & Vendor Management Specialist Job Duties:
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
- Negotiate terms with suppliers such as price, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc.
- Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant departments on purchasing processes and new projects and activities
- Place purchase orders with vendors
- Confirm and verify order information, pricing, product descriptions, item numbers and freight terms
- Document all customer engagement in CRM system
- Utilize Microsoft Excel heavily to run reports (VLOOKUPS)
- Coordinate with Shipping Department on all freight quotes, import/export documentation and customs compliance
- Stay up to date on industry trends and new products
- Monitor order expenses
- Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers
- Compile data relating to supplier performance to enable evaluation
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues
- Recommend new processes or systems for improvement; implement new ideas and strategies
Purchasing & Vendor Management Specialist Requirements:
- Associates/bachelor’s degree preferred, not required
- Minimum of one year experience working in a purchasing/customer service/vendor/order management role
- Experience working in a CRM preferred
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and rapport building
