RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Purchasing Agent plays a crucial role in the Company’s purchasing and procurement processes and is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, goods, and services to meet the company's operational requirements. The Purchasing Agent must have the ability to identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and build strong relationships with key vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials. The ability to successfully analyze costs, negotiate prices, and seek opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or service will be a necessity; as will the adeptness to monitor inventory levels, anticipate shortages, and ensure timely replenishment to prevent disruptions in production or operations. Accurate recordkeeping and approvals in the company’s accounting system pertaining to purchases, pricing, and other important data is a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
· Purchases goods and services according to the company’s policies and procedures.
· Coordinates with managers to maintain inventory levels.
· Evaluates vendors based on price, reliability, capability, and previous transaction history.
· Works with vendors to negotiate volume and cash transaction discounts, and other available discounts.
· Ensures that purchasing documents are complete, accurate and include appropriate terms and conditions.
· Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
· Maintain a computer software Maintenance Program that features Preventative Maintenance and Historical Maintenance records pertaining to machinery and equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of five years of purchasing experience required.
- Must understand all fundamentals of purchasing, experience in wood products a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to effectively multitask and communicate with multiple department leads and managers.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Has initiative and a proactive mindset.
- Mechanical aptitude abilities are beneficial.
- Excellent computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite, advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Ability to effectively operate purchasing and invoicing related computer programs, FIXX purchasing & inventory optimal, can easily navigate operating systems and databases, experience with DockLink a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisor.
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $34.00 per hour
