The preferred hiring amount is between $29.51 -38.47 hourly ($61,380.80 - $80,017.60 annually). Starting offer is based on applicable education, experience, and internal equity. The City endeavors to maintain leading-edge technology while providing cost-effective IT services. As part of the Information Technology Department, the Public Safety Technology Support Analyst provides help desk, hardware and software evaluation and installation, problem resolution and user training. This position reports to the IT Operations Manager and duties are performed under their general direction and may be asked to serve as a project team lead.
- Provides administration, technical, and training support for all computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for the City's Public Safety departments (Police and Fire). This may include but is not limited to the following components:
- Public Safety Software Systems
- Active Directory/SCCM
- End-user communication and collaboration tools
- Computers and mobile devices
- Productivity suites and other applications
- Remote access solutions
- Assists the IT Director and IT Operations Manager with evaluation and research of hardware and software systems as needed.
- Uses end-user security solutions and related enterprise level tools effectively.
- Develops and maintains operational documentation and prepares related reports.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date inventory records for all computer and mobile devices issued to the Public Safety departments.
- Remains knowledgeable about emerging technologies and makes recommendations accordingly.
- Meets departmental and organizational deadlines.
- Serves as liaison between City IT, ECC IT, and City Public Safety departments.
- Provides after hours Help Desk assistance to City users as on-call rotation, which may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Performs other duties or projects as assigned.
- Must have at least three (3) years of service desk experience.
- Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college, university, or technical school in Computer Science or MIS. (Minimally, must have a high school diploma or GED plus additional years of highly relevant experience.)
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a VCIN certification.
- Must have an in depth knowledge of personal computers and mobile devices.
- Must have experience testing, deploying and maintaining computer technology.
- Enterprise level environment experience with 200+ users is highly preferred.
- Experience with device research/recommendation is highly preferred.
- Working knowledge of enterprise level end-user tools/systems such as Microsoft SCCM and remote monitoring/diagnostic/problem resolution software is highly preferred.
- Experience resolving Tier I and II network and/or server related issues is highly preferred.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Public Safety technologies is preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of information technology terminology, procedures, and functions.
- Thorough knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications.
- Reading comprehension to read standard business English and skill in basic mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge and skill in proper documentation, reporting, record-keeping and compliance with federal, state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

Physical requirements for this position as outlined by the Department of Labor: LIGHT WORK: Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires the ability to lift or move more than 20 lbs. for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
The majority of time spent in this position involves inside work. This position is subject to: prolonged periods of computer display exposure; sitting; standing; walking; crouching; reaching; pinching, picking, or typing; holding, handling, or grasping; repetitive motion; hearing and talking; and visual acuity. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Performs work at multiple, various, Public Safety facilities. Occasional travel required to attend trainings and conferences. Position required to work on an on-call rotation, which may include nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
