The Position
Services of a school psychologist include psychoeducational assessment, diagnosis of specific learning and behavioral disabilities, psychological counseling, and consultation, to facilitate the learning and development of children by providing services to school administrators, teachers, parents, and community agencies.
The Candidate
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Hold a valid School Psychologist certificate. Desired experience working with exceptional children, assessment and counseling. Personal qualifications and ethical judgments needed for working in the areas of psychological assessment and counseling, exemplifying the highest level of integrity in handling confidential data and maintaining respect for the personal dignity of all concerned. Possess the ability and disposition for cooperative teamwork in undertaking assignments throughout the school district.

The Details
Representative Duties:
  • Psychoeducational assessment, identification and reporting of specific learning and/or behavioral disabilities, including, but not limited to recommendations of eligibility and services for the development of Individualized Education Plans, as well as periodic reevaluations of such children, and referral for additional services.
  • Consultation with school administrators concerning appropriate learning objectives for children and consultation with teachers and other school personnel in the development and implementation of alternative classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate pupil learning and to overcome learning and behavioral disorders.
  • Participation as a consulting member of the individualized program team to ensure appropriate educational placements and services for individual students.
  • Consultation and collaboration with Special Education Case Managers in order to assist parents in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of children.
  • Consultation with community agencies and professionals such as probation departments, mental health clinics, welfare departments, psychologist, physicians, etc., concerning pupils who are being served by such community agencies.
  • Serve as a member of the school site team in the provision of crisis and/or mental health services while on site.
  • Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment, and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection, dependent upon size and facility available.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in inservice education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
  • Assist in other school programs as assigned or authorized by supervisor.

School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB)
School District employees benefits are managed through the School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB). Any employee anticipated to work at least 630 hours in the school year is eligible for benefits, Dental, Vision, Basic Life/AD&D, Basic Long Term Disability are paid for by the District. Supplemental life insurance and long term disability can be purchased by the employee and also set up a Health Flexible Spending (FSA) accounts. Dependent Care Assistant Program (DCAP) account and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) if they qualify.
NEW EMPLOYEES will be evaluated for eligibility at the time of hire and given written notification and instructions on how to enroll if eligible or how to appeal if not eligible. All eligible employees must enroll in benefits using SEBB My Account within their thirty day enrollment period. The employee may waive medical coverage under certain circumstances. If an eligible employee does not enroll in benefits during their enrollment period they will be defaulted into medical coverage. Please read your eligibility notice carefully for instructions and deadlines and contact the Payroll Office for assistance.
Employees not initially eligible for SEBB Benefits may qualify later if your hours change or you work more than 630 hours in a school year.
