School Psychologist
1.0 FTE / Leave Replacement (1st Semester)
JOB SUMMARY:
Conducts tests and evaluates the needs and educational programs of referred students; acts as a consultant to staff and parents regarding student learning concerns; and assists in team planning and screening efforts within assigned buildings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information, while maintaining the safety and welfare for all students and staff members.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Director of Student Support Services and the school staff and/or parents in the areas of student evaluation, teacher-pupil consultation and special education classes.
  • Participate as a member of multidisciplinary teams in identifying students with disabilities as outlined in the Washington State Rules and Regulations for Students with Disabilities.
  • Participate in the evaluation of students suspected of having a disability.
  • Participate in the development of appropriate educational programs for students with disabilities.
  • Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans as required.
  • Participate in eligibility meetings, IEP meetings, and other pertinent meetings at various schools assigned, as needed.
  • Complete clearly written and comprehensive reports which provide practical recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of all psychological services provided.
  • Manage timelines and submit all required paperwork within a timely manner, adhering to all federal, state, and local laws and policies.
  • Consult and/or counsel with students, school staff, and parents regarding academic and/or personal/social needs; provide information regarding community services available to students; make appropriate referrals regarding vocational needs of students.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences including communicating student progress in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide a safe, positive and effective environment that reflects and facilitates learning.
  • Provide in-service education for staff and support personnel.
  • Maintain professional competence through continued education and training.
  • Self-reflect and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional performance to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses and adjust accordingly to reach maximum effectiveness.
  • Perform other job-related duties as requested by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Hold a Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Hold a certification in school psychology from an institution accredited in the State of Washington (or be eligible for ESA certification prior to first contracted day).

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of acceptable psychological testing procedures and practices.
  • Possess the ability to communicate and work cooperatively with parents, school staff, and administrators in providing direct and indirect services to students with disabilities.
  • Demonstrate ability to express thoughts concisely, accurately and effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Possess knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulation, and policies regarding children's special education eligibility and programming.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the essential requirements with regard to PL 101-476 and WAC 392-172A
  • Demonstrate ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Exhibit the ability to build a positive learning environment including modeling respect and honoring the dignity of all students, staff and parents.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop rapport with students.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with a team, contributing in a positive way.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:
As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Mead Education Association (MEA) and Policies and Procedures of Mead School District. The 2023-24 salary range for teachers in the Mead School District is between $52,040 and $110,197.97 per school year. Placement is defined within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is generally based upon a combination of Education and Experience. Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
Each employee shall accumulate twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full term shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance Each employee shall earn five (5) annual leave days per year. Employees less than 1.0 FTE will receive a prorated share of annual leave based on their percentage of FTE.
Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB) Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over the school year are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.
