Form of workPosition Summary:
The Project Manager will be a key contributor to executing on the growth strategy by serving as the single point of contact for customer and stakeholders on new product initiatives as well as sustaining engineering projects critical to the ongoing success of existing products. Projects typically are for a defined on- or off-highway OEM or Tier 1 customer, and a specific product or product family.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the customer point of contact and ensures effective project management processes, schedule, cost, resources, risk, project change management, and commitments to customers are met.
- Lead and drive product development efforts from initiation to completion. Plan, organize and direct activities related to key strategic customer-facing projects. Ensure alignment between customer requirements and objectives of the Company.
- Utilizing the project management toolset, define project scope, milestones, deliverables, success criteria, RACI matrix, probability/impact risk logs and mitigation strategies.
- Manage customer project expectations through regular communication with customers and internal stakeholders. Clearly communicate project schedule and status, development milestones and objectives, track financial and quality performance, and implement corrective actions covering all areas of project responsibility.
- Align multiple functions (e.g. engineering, supply chain, operations, sales) to develop plans that ensure customer needs are satisfied in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Facilitate stakeholder updates and working sessions: capture key action items, communicate agendas and meeting minutes. Disciplined and diplomatic follow-up process for closing outstanding issues with customers and internal team members.
- Employ Nichol's New Product Development process to ensure all key process activities and milestones are met to ensure reliable designs are developed, meeting validation requirements and cost targets. Assist project engineer in ensuring APQP deliverables are met.
- Understand and be able to report on of the business unit’s performance metrics and initiatives.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- 3+ years of experience in Project/Program Management in projects related to the design and development of products/solutions.
- Bachelor's degree in business or engineering
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong relationship management: Provide impeccable customer service to ensure productive working relationship with customer contacts. Skillful team leadership in a cross-functional team environment
- Proficient in the use of business applications software and the ability to use specialized project management
- Strong computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Experience in New Product Introduction and development
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects as well as operate in ambiguous environments with limited supervision.
- Ability to optimize and synthesize multiple project methodologies
- CAPM or PMP certification preferred (or working toward completion)
Job related demands (i.e. physical, travel):
- Moderate travel for meetings with customers or suppliers (6 – 10 times per year)
- Flexibility to alter work schedule for timely completion of projects
- Prioritization of multiple projects to meet operational goals
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues with tact and diplomacy
- Maintenance of professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and/or participating in professional associations
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 35 lbs. without assistance and occasionally up to 50 lbs following company safe lifting protocol
- Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to work in an environment with powdered metal, dust, noise, oils and chemicals
