The Project Accountant plays a key role in tracking and reporting on the project's financial performance.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare monthly accounting and reporting on a multitude of projects within the Northeast region
  • Responsible for project accounting, accurate monthly billing, job cost reporting, and reconciliation
  • Be knowledgeable about all aspects of project accounting and each job assigned. Be responsible for managing the following:
    • Prepare the monthly requisitions to customers/owner
    • Process budget updates
    • Prepare cost transfers
    • Process subcontractor requisitions
    • Ensure the subcontractor is complying with terms and conditions of the contract (i.e. insurance, billing procedures, etc.)
    • Set up job, contract and billable rates in Sage
    • Process accounts payable invoices, obtain lien releases from vendors, etc.
    • Track & reconcile costs of third-party labor companies
    • Select invoices to be included in the weekly disbursement cycle
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports for project management team
    • Monitor accounts receivable and work with clients to ensure timely payment of invoices
    • The person will work closely with the Controllers and Project Managers on all facets of project accounting and administration issues
  • Participate in division management, client and project meetings as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum of one-three years of finance/accounting experience, preferably in construction or related industries
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting. Advanced degree a plus
  • Strong data management and accounting reconciliation skills (attention to detail)
  • Experience with Sage 300 (Timberline) a plus
  • Intermediate Excel skills a must (if statements, vlookups, pivot tables, etc)
  • Exposure to project management software a plus
Working Conditions
General office working conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
