To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/04/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-11 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-09. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. Specialized Experience: Do you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service, that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) needed to successfully perform the duties of the position and that is typically in or related to this Program Specialist (Controlled Substance Coordinator) position to be filled? Specialized experience includes: Providing technical, administrative assistance and advise to Hospital and clinical staff regarding a Controlled Substance inspection program, providing advisory, writing, distributing and updating local policies, procedures and memorandums; Experience working with a Controlled Substance Inspection or similar inspection program, review and analyze inspection data providing a summary of findings to the Medical Center Director and staff
reviewing inspection data and perform analysis to identify issues, discrepancies and identify corrective actions needed; Research audit discrepancies and issues to determine possible causes and resolutions. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume to be creditable.
Substitution of Education for Experience: successfully completeda Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. (Transcripts Required)
Combination of Specialized Experience and Education: equivalent combinations of specialized experience and successfully completed education beyond the first two graduate years or 36 semester credit hours. (Transcript Required)

Major Duties:
- Expected to interpret, analyze and to apply comprehensive regulations and mandates governing the inspection of Controlled Substances
- Participation in Internal/External Reviews
- Serves as a member of the Medication Safety Subcommittee of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, attending monthly meetings
- Will lead preparations for inspections involving the program.
- Must establish harmonious working relationships within facility The incumbent's customer service skills will have a direct impact on the ability to manage a successful program.
- Must be constantly alert and aware of these changes in order to perform the duties of the position.
- Distribute and update local written policies and procedures and/or memorandums that promote commitment to corporate compliance
