This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned program. Serve as liaison between students, administration staff, university faculty, and community members to facilitate the success of Fraternity and Sorority Life programs. Oversee, advise, and assess all features of event planning, leadership development and management of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) and various educational, recreational, and social events.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as liaison between students, administration staff, university faculty, and community members to facilitate the success of Fraternity and Sorority Life programs.
- Oversee, advise, and assess all features of event planning, leadership development and management of Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) and various educational, recreational, and social events.
- Work to develop, advise and grow leadership skills within National Panhellenic Council, Independent Greek Council, and Multicultural Council.
- Assist in programming and educational opportunities including, but not limited to council retreats, chapter transition, membership intake, Greek life perspective workshops, Standards of Excellence program, officer trainings, risk prevention/harm reduction, create policy and procedure on hazing, alcohol and other drugs initiatives, new member experience, Greek weeks, Step shows, social justice, sexual assault prevention and accountability.
- Responsible for the collaboration of several campus-wide and traditional events, including Homecoming, Week of Welcome, Welcome Back Week, and Spring Fest.
- Track community service hours with the Volunteer service coordinator.
- Develop budgets and maintain financial operations to ensure appropriate spending within financial parameters.
- Responsible for the development and support of the residential curriculum throughout the various residential areas of campus. Maintain a working relationship with university departments, offices, and academic units that service the residential curriculum in efforts to ensure programming effectiveness throughout each property.
- Responsible for developing assessment driven student learning outcomes, risk management policies and procedures, and collaborate with the University marketing department to create effective marketing strategies to students.
- Participate in national, regional, and local professional development opportunities as available. Serve on university, department, and unit committees as assigned.
- Responsible for staying abreast with best practices associated with college student engagement.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or an equivalent level of education and/or experience is acceptable.
- Two years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree specific to event management/planning, hospitality, communications, public relations, education, business, leadership studies, marketing, or student affairs.
- Advanced degree in student affairs, counseling, or related field.
- Experience in a college work environment. Working knowledge of Engage (Campus Labs) - formally known as OrgSync.
- Familiarity with event planning.
- Knowledge of budgeting and accounting.
Other:
- Comfortable advising students from a variety of social and economic backgrounds and passion for developing leaders.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
Special Requirements:
- Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a bachelor's degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of six years of experience.
