CHISHOLM CENTER LIFEGUARD - SEASONAL
Pay Grade: 100 Dept: Parks & Recreation
Exempt: No Reports to: Chisholm Center Director
Hours: Part time Date: 2024
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises all pool activities such as swimming, pool games, and activities around the swimming pool.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and /or abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: The applicant must have experience life guarding and supervising swimming and pool activities.
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Must be able to swim at least 100 yards continuously
- Must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
- Must be Red Cross/YMCA/CPR trained and/certified in Shallow Water Lifeguarding.
REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to pass a swimming test
- Thorough have knowledge of objectives, operations, and programs of the public pool safety and surrounding area safety.
- Good knowledge of safety factors such as pool rules and CPR procedures.
- Must be CPR and American Red Cross/YMCA Lifeguard certified. Training provided by the City of DeLand
- Keep pool deck and changing room orderly.
- Ability to monitor chlorine and PH levels as required by state law.
Lifting: 25-100 Pounds
Environment: Outside in various weather conditions in pool area
Vision: 20/20 or Corrected to 20/100
Hearing: Low to noisy conditions
