MISSION:
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
JOB PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, performs program support in the Education Division and others as needed following standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating with others. Utilization of resources from work units is often required to perform the job's functions. Employee is evaluated annually using Employee performance Management System.
The Program Assistant will provide administrative and program support by coordinating the activities of assigned administrative personnel, monitoring data analysis, and providing information, recommendations, and/or direction as requested by the assigned administrator(s). The employee is evaluated annually using Employee Performance Management System.
JOB DUTIES:
Maintains a wide variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records to provide up-to-date information and/or historical reference per established administrative guidelines and legal requirements.
Responds to and initiates a variety of inquiries from internal and external stakeholders ensuring the mission of the SCDJJ School District is clearly communicated.
Advances the mission and vision of the School District and the Agency.
Displays professionalism and leadership by following established school, agency, and federal policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
STATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and relevant program experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, policies, and procedures relevant to the education division.
Ability to exercise judgement and discretion.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
Understand, execute, and convey complicated oral/written instructions.
Limited overnight travel.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youths within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youths within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
