ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works independently or with others to ensure label content is accurate, meets specifications, and print is clear. Documents errors or corrections needed.
- Update food label content prior to printing.
- Verifies and/or creates product specifications according to Julian date, forecasts food shelf life according to manufacturing date.
- Follows product specifications according to grocer’s parameters for daily food production projections, as defined for products.
- Applies the correct label to its corresponding specification sheet, updates documentation of verification typically referred to for food safety traceability.
- Verifies the accuracy of the information on each label according to product and customer information.
- Verifies the accuracy of the country of origin on the label for each product.
- Secure outbound and inbound loads as outlined in company policy.
- Ensure company rules for inbound and outbound shipments against the order sheet or BOL are followed as it relates to labeling and quality specifications.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of all products, label and specifications requirements common to the Calavo customer base.
- Loads, prepares and maintains printers and printing equipment.
- Determines differences in quantities and specification differences by using basic math skills.
- Adheres to all company food safety policies, including CCP’s and good manufacturing practices.
- Adheres to all company safety policies, food safety policies, including incidents, nonconformance and accident reporting.
- Assists with other tasks pertaining to production as needed
- Report any problems or issues to Operations Manager over telephone or via email. Issues related to food safety reported to QA Manager as needed.
- Escalates difficult matters to the Team Lead or Supervisor as necessary. May inform QA / QC Supervisor when issues or questions are presented.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Pay range:
- The base hourly wage we reasonably expect to pay for this role is: $18.00 - $26.78.
- New hires start at $18.00.
- The actual hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience.
- Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or cash bonuses that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Basic math skills
- Experience working in a similar environment or position preferred
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES. The individual shall possess:
- Ability to be a self-starter who will be responsible for common routines.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and multi-task effectively
- Ability to regularly lift up to 30 lbs., stand and walk for prolonged periods
- Ability to push heavy weigh rolling tubs across the packinghouse floor
- Ability to work effectively as a team member; high level of dependability and work ethic.
- Ability to gain a working knowledge of food safety and good manufacturing practices.

DEMANDS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this Job it is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear; sit for prolong periods and use hands to finger, handle, lift or feel. Frequent exposure to chilled temperatures within the operations and warehouse environments. Must be able to lift, reach and move up to 25 pounds.
