The Electric Power Division has an exciting opportunity for a Commissioning and Technical Product Service Engineer supporting Caterpillar Dealers in North, Central and South Americas Region with both the Lafayette and Mannheim sourced Electric Power Gas Product. The job is highly operationally focused and requires a deep understanding of commissioning, dealer organization, and the application of Gas Engines in Electric Power

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Support dealers in identifying and addressing technical product issues, commissioning and standard service maintenance execution. This is accomplished through on site support, use of existing dealer support tools along with an interface with the respective engineering teams for the Mannheim or Lafayette Product. Support contractual obligation on Maintenance and Parts agreements for legacy products
  • Support and where needed execute commissioning activity with CAT dealers for Lafayette and Mannheim Product
  • Support and where needed execute standard maintenance with CAT Dealers for Lafayette and Mannheim Product.
  • Provide technical support for Total Engine Management (TEM), Total Plant and Engine Management (TPEM), EMCP and ECM genset controllers
  • Solve problems by determining the best course of action to meet project deadlines
  • Develop dealer technical and commercial capabilities in servicing LEPS Electric Power Gas Products.
  • Support product groups in the development, testing and implementation of corporate programs and initiatives
  • Identify, investigate, and obtain resolution commitments for all significant field problems to maintain and improve genset performance
  • Conduct dealer and customer visits to personally provide expert technical assistance on urgent field problems
  • Maintain communications on the level necessary for multi plant involvement on a worldwide basis


Basic Qualifications:
  • Existing experience with commissioning and service on Gas Engine Electric Power Product.
  • 5 years of progressively responsible job-related experience
  • Previous large engine experience
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with product knowledge


Highly Qualified Candidates will have
  • Prior experience with generator sets and electric power generation controllers
  • Familiar with company policies and procedures with a strong department background.
  • Good engineering background, service tooling, repair practices, product user practices, dealer service capabilities, and a high level of product knowledge in both electrical and mechanical areas.
  • Ability to work in other languages in addition to English


Travel: 25% - 50% of time to site in the Americas region to work with dealers and customers, and ability to travel with minimal notification. International travel to Germany will be required to work and collaborate with counterparts.

Location: This job will be located in Dallas, TX or Alpharetta, Georgia.
