Our team is looking for a reliable and experienced solar and electrical Inspection Tech. The ideal applicant will have great communication skills, several years of construction industry experience, and be up to date with state and local electrical codes, safety standards, and construction methods. You will meet with building inspectors, and conduct thorough worksite and systems inspections. Responsibilities
• Perform pre-inspection of system prior to inspector's arrival
• Open electrical panels and junction boxes so the inspector can observe
• Obtain necessary pictures and documents when needed
• Install place cards and label equipment
• Set up and tie off ladders as necessary for city/county inspectors
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local inspection offices
• Work independently with minimum supervision
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Inspect the structural soundness of buildings - including roofing, foundation, sewer, heating systems, air conditioning, electrical systems, hoists, escalators, and plumbing systems
• Supervise construction activities throughout all phases of construction at building sites and their conformance to general public safety standards
• Analyze blueprints and building plans to be sure they meet contract specifications, local building code ordinances, electrical code safety standards, and zoning regulations
• Conduct land surveys to determine leveling, alignment, and elevation of structures on worksites
• Use metering devices, survey instruments, test equipment, and metering devices to perform a thorough inspection of construction projects
Qualifications
• Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
• A minimum of one (1) year experience in a discipline related to construction or building sciences; estimating or site assessment, PV, and energy efficiency experience is preferred but not required
• High School or GED required
• Excellent customer service skills required
• Must be able to work unsupervised for extended periods of time
• Experience working in or around electric panels preferred
• Ability to organize and maintain paper documents, electronic photos, and files
• Excellent written communication skills are required when working with inspectors
• Ability to perform basic math with or without the use of an electronic device
• Proficiency with smartphone applications and digital cameras
• Basic computer skills including the ability to copy files and communicate via email
• Ability to read plans, specifications, diagrams, equipment submittals, and material data sheets
• Ability to follow standardized processes while working unassisted
• Ability to interact, communicate, and provide detailed summaries of work performed to the homeowner and management team
• Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in daily/weekly meetings
• Industry experience is valuable (2-3 years) working with construction trades, as a plumbing inspector, real estate home inspector, or mechanical inspector
• Understanding of zoning regulations, construction methods, Inspection Techniques, and state and local safety regulations and ordinances is needed
• Requires a high school diploma - some college or technical education in the area of building Inspection Technology, engineering, construction management, or construction technology is helpful
• A satisfactory driving record and valid driver's license are required
• Strong communication and decision-making skills, and mechanical knowledge are needed
