IMMI is seeking a Product Engineer R & D to join its Westfield team. The Product Engineer R & D will design and develop new products or improve current products using engineering disciplines and tools such as IMMI Pro track (IPT), a Stage/ Gate process,Computer Aided Design and Engineering tools, Test and Validation, Product Release, etc. The goal is to produce products that meet IMMI targets for performance specifications, cost and timing. (On Specification, On Time and On Cost)

RESPONSIBILITES:
- Design and develop mechanisms and pyrotechnically powered products using IMMI Pro Track (IPT) product development process. Perform the necessary calculations to support the safe development of these mechanisms.
- Provides guidance to designers/supporting engineers for designs, drawings, requisitions, etc. to meet regulatory, process, mechanical and project requirements.
- Work collaboratively to execute projects with various internal competencies i.e., Testing, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality and Finance.
- Support internal and external customers with technical information and initiatives. This can include developing and/or creating design concepts, CAD models, prototypes and technical reports/presentations.
- Develop component part designs in line with industry and proper engineering practices in common materials and processes such as stamping, blanking, forming, fine blanking, injection molding, thermoset molding, die and investment casting, cold forming, extruding, draw forming or others where appropriate.
- Maintain good documentation records.
- Engage with suppliers and outside contractors to accomplish key outsourcing activities like part sourcing or contract design.
- Develop and execute validation testing to qualify designs through the product development process.
- Oversee and manage multiple projects at a time and prioritize work.
- Gain peer and management product insight through informal and formal design reviews.
- Utilize design tools available to maximize development time while ensuring optimal product design.
- Fully support company programs, policies and objectives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- 5 years' experience or more in Mechanical Engineering design.
- Must demonstrate a strong ability to innovate.
- Must be able to perform calculations in the fields of engineering mechanics, statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials, or other disciplines in support of project objectives.
- Hands on capability for building and testing prototype designs is a must.
- Must have the ability and willingness to perform work for US military application.
- Understanding of electronics and software
- Understanding of pyrotechnic actuators and inflators
- Automotive background in Design Engineering preferred.
