Mechanical Engineer, Product Development
Reports To:
The Mechanical Engineer, Product Development will report to the Senior Engineer, Product
Development and Support.
Job Overview:
As a member of the Engineering team, the Mechanical Engineer for Product Development and Support
will be responsible for reviewing existing products and processes, including design verification,
validation of safety factors, and creation and implementation of design modifications. The ideal
candidate will have proactive and collaborative technical acuity, possess the ability to think both
logically and creatively. The candidate should also be able to clearly communicate to other teammates
concepts, timelines, and deliverables, for successful Product Development projects. j
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Support and maintain current products to address continuous improvement in quality, reliability,
cost, and performance
• Develop and design custom derivatives of existing products based on customer specifications
• Assist in the development and design of New Products within the sports equipment industry that will
penetrate new and existing markets
• Assist with 3rd party partnerships, suppliers, and certifications
• Assist in Developing and testing prototypes for New Product ideas and/or verification of new
suppliers
• Verify and validate product specification change requests
• Develop quality designs and make want/need trade-offs based on data and solid engineering
analysis
• Effective utilization of design/analytical tools and discipline to design to customer Critical-to-Quality
(CTQ's) including FEA modeling, DFA, DFM, etc.
• Verify product compliance with industry-specific regulations (NCAA, etc.)
• Maintain project development plans j
• Input and follow through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Attend recurring ECO meeting for
communication and approval of upcoming design/process release or changes.
• Perform tolerance stack and root cause analysis for design development and failures
• Build to expert level of product and application knowledge
• Actively contribute to the continual improvement of tools and relevant work practices
• Perform other functions as required
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR 12+ years
relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree
• High proficiency in 3D CAD software (Design & Manufacturing principles)
• Ability to read/interpret architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints
- Comfortability and understanding of design for metal fabrication & assembly
- Familiarity with GD&T
- Hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Strong organizational,time management, attention to detail and analytical skills
- Good communication skills, written and oral
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software
- Experience in reading and interpreting tape measure, caliper,and micrometer
- Travel: Up to 20%,including internationall-2x/year

Preferred qualifications:
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor software
- Working knowledge of ERP software (preferably Made2Manage)
- Experience designing for cost optimization
- Experience with reading and interpreting multimeters
- Hands-on experience in metal fabrication,including welding
- Experience in machine design
