Product Development Engineer

LHH is seeking a Product Development Engineer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a manufacturing client in Bloomington, Indiana. This is a newly created position due to business growth and will give you the opportunity to manage new product lines from cradle to grave. You will join a well-established team and will interface with multiple departments on a daily basis as you develop more products and components through product release. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $85,000-105,000 per year plus bonus and offers several medical insurance plans, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the design team with new Product Development
• Complete design reviews with internal and external business partners
• Complete Finite Element Analyses and determine manufacturability
• Select materials and/or create new materials in order to manufacture new products
• Manage projects from beginning to end including the definition of the concept, designing, BOM selection, prototyping, and manufacturing
• Work with the Design Team to edit drawings to match customer specs as needed
• Collaborate with the sales, client services, and engineering teams about client requests, custom projects, etc.
• Verify and validate new designs and conduct root cause analysis of quality issues during the design and beginning stages of the manufacturing process
• Coordinate with operations and management personnel to develop a shared vision for the completion of daily tasks and then report on those activities
• Perform initial and ongoing product and performance reviews

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• ***NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENT: Must have previous work experience with plastics manufacturing which could include overmolding, insert molding, injection molding, and/or extrusion OR possess a Bachelor’s Degree specifically within Plastics Engineering***
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering is required
• Must have experience with program management and/or new Product Development experience with plastic products
• Preference toward candidates from a highly regulated industry
• Must possess the ability to read blueprints and CAD designs
• Must possess strong analytical, trouble-shooting, and problem-solving skills
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively work as part of a cross-functional team
