BAE Systems is seeking a Sr Product Test Engineer for our Controls and Avionics Solutions (CAS) business location in Fort Wayne, IN. Being a trusted provider of commercial aircraft solutions, the CAS business also develops and produces highly reliable, adaptable, and scalable avionics solutions for the leading manufacturers of commercial aircraft and their propulsion systems. As a member of BAE Systems’ team, you will have the opportunity to work hands-on with complex electronic controls and solve challenging technical problems that both enhance our products performance and matter to our customers.
In this Sr. Product Test Engineer role, the qualified candidate will be the engineering support interface for products within the Fort Wayne factory. Responsibilities include:

  • Defining, integrating, and maintaining hardware test requirements
  • Initiating continuous improvement of our electronic controls as a response to acceptance test yields and delivered quality metrics
  • Providing on-site design engineering guidance and support to the manufacturing and service organizations (e.g. product investigations / root cause analysis and performance impact assessments).
  • Liaising with Design Engineering in Endicott, New York on design changes.

Performance in the role requires heavy engagement with Programs, Operations, and our customer to support product performance, quality, reliability, and delivery issues.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite in the Fort Wayne, IN manufacturing facility and remote. Some light travel may be required (<10%).


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Electronics troubleshooting and instrument familiarity (analog, digital, power, communications).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Ability to interpret and implement requirements specifications.
  • General understanding of electronics manufacturing process.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing and test of high reliability electronic assemblies and their avionics applications.
  • Experience using complex analytical tools and methods (SPC, 6 Sigma, etc.).
  • Experience working in a high-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using advanced test and analysis instrumentation (spectrum, bus and logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Experience programming in various software environments (Basic, UNIX, C++, NI LabVIEW, NI Test Stand, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate, and organize multiple activities in a cross-functional team environment.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $73350 - $124740
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
