Job Duties:
The Product Development Engineering Intern is an integral part of the Product Development business unit of 3form. As a supporting member of this Product Development Engineering team you will have the opportunity to work on a large variety of projects in different roles. Specific responsibilities include:
- Work on a cross functional development team to develop primarily resin- and glass-based solutions/systems that will lead trends in commercial interior design.
- Help develop manufacturing, production techniques, and installation tools and documentation for upcoming launches.
- Run application development and research projects; design and execute material or application testing as needed.
- Design experiments for problem solving, data collection, and data analysis
- Work closely with vendors and purchasing in the sourcing and production of raw materials and finished goods.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in a B.S or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering (ME) or Material Science & Engineering (MSE), ideally with a background in resin and/or glass materials. B.S or M.S. in Industrial Design/Product Design also acceptable.
- Possess a working knowledge of composites, polymers, and/or glass material properties, manufacturing processes, and testing methodologies.
- Preferred to have artistic/design skills and high design awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Have functional knowledge in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD, Sketchup) and Adobe Design Suite (Indesign, Illustrator).
- Added consideration for Rendering skills (V-Ray) and Parameteric Design (Grasshopper)
- Demonstrate strong technical and creative acumen, including the ability to verbally convey technical ideas and concepts.
- Work well in a small team environment.
