The Nuclear Engineering department invites applications for a full-time Procurement Specialist. Reporting to the Business Manager, the Procurement Specialist will provide responsive, technical knowledge and cost-effective skills to procure supplies, equipment, and services to support the research, instruction, and service mission of the Nuclear Engineering Department. Duties includes processing procurement card purchase requests, framework orders (including those with bid requirements), processing all department contracts, working with faculty to validate non-compete justifications, creating RFQ packages when bids are necessary, and creating and monitoring asset records. This position assists faculty and staff in fiscal policy compliance along with granting agency guidelines and is responsible for addressing questions and concerns in a timely manner. This position also provides departmental administrative support and represents the department in a professional manner, often dealing with individuals and organizations external to the university.
This position requires knowledge and strict adherence to fiscal policy and procedures for contract compliance in a heavily research productive department. Additional information regarding the department may be viewed at https://ne.utk.edu/.
Minimum/Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with 3 years of accounting, procurement, or logistic experience.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and organization skills.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work within a team environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree or Bachelor's degree preferred with three years of accounting, procurement, or logistic experience
- Experience in an academic environment
- Knowledge of State and federal contract and grant financial requirements.
- Working knowledge of UT fiscal policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of financial applications such as SAP/IRIS/UT Marketplace
