Process Technology Engineering Internship Program

Duration: June/July through December 2024

Locations: Modesto, Livingston, Lodi and Fresno, CA

The Gallo wineries located in Modesto, Livingston, Lodi and Fresno are world-class centers for the production of domestic and international wines. This internship provides the opportunity to work within one of these facilities and partner closely with a cross-functional team to execute Engineering projects during the grape harvest. Interns will have the opportunity to work alongside professional technology managers, gaining valuable hands-on expertise in a variety of areas at the Winery.

What You Will Do

The Process Technology Development Internship Program for Engineers is searching for appropriate candidates to fill 6-month positions within our Process Technology Department. Interns will work with cross-functional teams, including operations, winemaking, engineering and operators to execute technology projects that are undertaken during the harvest season. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a lab or production environment and increase your skill base for future employment or graduate school. Working closely with cross functional teams, interns' essential functions are as follows:

• Assists in the development and scale-up of new technologies for the Winery.
• Participates in technology projects and assist in managing a portion of an ongoing development project.
• Gathers and analyzes technical and cost data to determine feasibility.
• Evaluates and presents test results for possible application to development of systems or other uses.
• Updates standards, policies, specifications, and procedures as assigned.
• Monitors and ensures achievement of project goals, objectives and timelines.
• Solves technical problems and issues.
• Communicates project status.

Compensation

• Hiring Salary Range Posted: $27.00 - $28.00 / hour
• Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data

• Currently enrolled at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor's or Master's, or Ph.D degree in the School of Engineering OR have obtained a Bachelor's or Master's, or Ph.D degree in the School of Engineering.
• Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Available for the entire duration of this internship program
• Required to lift and move up to 40 lbs when necessary.
• Required to work at heights of 50 feet, on tops of tanks inspecting wine surfaces when necessary.
• Requires availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays when necessary.

Min Quals Standard

• Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

• Junior or Senior class standing at a college or university and working towards a Bachelor's degree in the School of Engineering.
• Strong applied technical skills and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and team skills and experience managing multiple assignments.
• Comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical inclination and an aptitude for design of equipment and manufacturing processes.
