Position Title: SW/HW Test Engineer
Company:Top utility company in SoCal
Remote/Onsite: Hybrid (Mon-Thurs in the lab or field, Friday remote)
Work Location: Monterey Park
Field Work: Dispersed across Pico Rivera, Downtown, and East LA
Education Requirement: Bachelors Degree preferred
Top Skills:
- 2+ years of relevant testing experience
- Software testing experience (Ability to do Unit testing, system integration testing, regression testing)
- Ability to write test scripts from scratch (Visual Studio preferred, not required)
- Some experience with hardware / electrical component testing
- Exposure to PCB Boards
- Understanding of Voltage/Amperage Multimeters
- Experienced with the Microsoft Suite
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills
- Quick learner / self-starter
Plus Skills:
- Visual Studio experience
- RF experience / knowledge
- Utilities experience
- Test automation experience
Additional Information:
- Role exists within the Advanced Meter organization and will be a blend of project and operational support, with 75% of the role focused on software testing and 25% focused on hardware/electrical component testing
- Project work will be focused on supporting 2 separate pilots:
- Ultrasonic meters
- Residential methane detection
Day to day responsibilities:
- Will work in a lab environment to conduct software and hardware testing in support of Advanced Meters and the AM Network
- Software testing efforts will include firmware for Data Collector Units (DCUs), ultrasonic meters, and residential methane detection meters, and various software patches
- Responsible for developing software test scripts from scratch, or using or making edits to existing scripts, as needed
- May include collaboration with other Advanced Meter partners as necessary
- Responsible for hardware testing on cellular cards, the DCUs, and other hardware components related to firmware upgrades
- Will participate in an engineering review relevant to the DCU electrical component board
- Site visits aren’t expected but are occasionally required for analysis
- Other support or tasks as needed
