The Opportunity

Provide leadership, oversight, and project management covering Abbott’s Quality System. This includes business/division support and quality expertise and consulting activities. Manages major projects or combination of projects. Defines the business results expected from a project. Executes the project including tracking of key milestones and expenses. Expedites, manages and coordinates a multitude of interrelated activities within the constraints of limited human and financial resources and changing priorities. Develops strategies and timelines to meet goals. Significant interaction with senior management with accountability for assigned projects. This role researches and creates reports for divisions and senior management from internal and external sources regarding quality/regulatory data which impacts Abbott operations, etc. Additionally, involved in projects to improve methods for data gathering, analysis and visualization. This position works out of our Abbott Park or Willis Tower location in the Quality and Regulatory Division.

What You’ll Work On

  • Identifies resource requirements, costs and time schedules.
  • Develops an implementation plan ,conducts risk assessments and develops contingency plans to accommodate unforeseen events.
  • Recognizes and removes barriers to project completion.
  • Recognizes the broader implications of actions and proposals on the final project outcome.
  • Applies knowledge within a quality discipline to analyze data and resolve problems.
  • Anticipates, recognizes ,and communicates quality issues appropriately and recommends and approves actions to resolve the issues.
  • Collaboratively supports directors, quality subsystem owners, and other internal / external stakeholder with organizational, project/program management.
  • Create appropriate messaging and dashboards to facilitate global communication to all levels of the organization.
  • Assure that projects will effectively integrate with existing programs and strategies so that long and short term business goals are attained.
  • Builds Relationships: Initiates and cultivates open and honest communication, developing an understanding of others’ needs, promoting common goals and following through on commitments.
  • Resolves Conflicts within the Team and across other groups: Seeks out appropriate forum for conflict resolution.
  • Faces conflicts and takes initiative to resolve them constructively, diverts tensions away from individuals and toward work issues, probes for root causes of problems, collaborates to find mutually beneficial solutions, proposes action steps and assists in implementation.
  • Collaboratively settles disputes.
  • Facilitates Teamwork: Encourages collaboration, works with team to clarify roles and expectations, works just as effectively as a member or as a leader.
  • Promotes a Teamwork Environment: Leads team in planning, problem solving and using appropriate decision making processes.
  • Makes Decisions: Uses appropriate decision-making tools to make timely decisions with the best information available within a team and across groups.
  • It is expected that the individual will interact frequently with division management with executive responsibility, and therefore require a high level of competence, confidence and credibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in technical or scientific discipline.
  • A total of 7 years’ experience in a combination of the following areas: manufacturing/operations, quality assurance/compliance, project management, business/data analysis.
  • Medical Device, Nutrition, and/or pharmaceutical industry experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar and familiarity with PowerBI preferred.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
