Leads all Tooling & Process Engineering activities associated with the startup and ramp of a brand-new casting cell or programs with the largest HPDC machines ever made.
- Proficient in die design with optimized runner & gate, thermally balanced inserts, and highest possible vacuum efficiency to produce structural components using water free lube as well as strong understanding of flow/thermal simulation software such as Magmasoft & Flow 3D
- Responsible of strong coordination between part design, die design, tool and die, quality and manufacturing teams
- Responsible for the entire process development of all new dies produced for Tesla Castings operation until die and process designed specifications are met and handed over to sustaining team as well as die engineering changes
- Provide feedback to Manufacturing team on equipment performance and requirements for appropriate process development
- Optimize tooling performance by utilizing applicable surface coatings and materials to improve die life and reduce/eliminate soldering
- Improve SMED process on all programs to reduce down time
- Perform dimensional analysis; implement corrective actions to improve dimensional capability. Complete understanding of casting tolerances and GD&T
- Maintain die design and process documentation including lessons learned during process development.
- Used to die casting floor environment, machine side role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong background in high Pressure die castings process and peripheral equipment
- Proficient in Die Design with experience in gating and thermal design
- Proficient in 2D and GD&T
- Experience with 3D modelling with proficiency in CATIA V5, Solidworks or similar
- Experience with flow simulation software
- Knowledge in Lean Manufacturing
