As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for providing troubleshooting, process analysis, optimization, and improvement support to the plant Operations group. You will be responsible for leading pulping process investigations, trials, and improvement projects through analyzing process trends, interpreting data, and proposing solutions.
Responsibilities also include implementing process and manufacturing strategies, managing resources, optimizing current processes, and maintaining documentation. In addition to this, you will work closely with chemical suppliers on managing the plant’s chemical dosing programs. You will be an out of the box thinker, constantly looking for continuous improvement opportunities and will be responsible for coaching operators and supervisors on Pulping Process, all while adhering to and promoting safe work practices.
- Responsible for pulping operation to ensure consistent pulp quality.
- Work with Chemical Suppliers to manage Chemical Dosing Program required for the Pulping Operations.
- Maintain calibrations for the in-line process monitoring instruments and troubleshoot them.
- Work closely with Operations Team in troubleshooting Process Issues.
- Follows all appropriate Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies and participates in incident investigations, as required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Actively participate in the site’s process improvement initiatives.
- Completes, coordinates, reports, and maintains records of environmental testing for effluent regulatory requirements.
- Work with chemical suppliers and Maintenance to execute and create Preventive Maintenance Procedures on the Chemical Dosing Skids.
- Conduct training for the staff to confirm Process Chemistries and Lab Analysis are done as per the developed standards.
- Creates and maintains Standard Operating Procedures for Pulping Process.
Qualifications
- Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering Degree, or Technologist.
- 2-5 years of engineering experience in an industrial environment.
- Lean & Six Sigma working knowledge would be an asset.
- Solid experience in developing and interpreting Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Strong program management skills managing multiple initiatives.
- Previous experience in the pulp and paper industry will be considered as an asset.
