Position Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for managing the technical aspects of the plant, including troubleshooting, process control, and process improvement. The successful applicant will be expected to create and maintain a stable and reliable manufacturing process through analysis of data and application of sound, engineering practices. A strong background in engineering and design, project management, lean manufacturing principles, and process reliability in a manufacturing environment is desired.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Effectively collaborate with and seek input from operators and other staff to develop SOPs. Participate in incident reviews, root cause analyses and corrective actions.
- Recommend improvements or redesigns for equipment and processes to meet safety, quality, production and cost goals.
- Provide facilities engineering to maintain and upgrade the existing plant.
- Plans and directs the modifications of existing equipment and facilities.
- Implements engineering standards and maintaining the facility according to them.
- Interact with R&D team to identify development activities necessary to improve manufacturing processes.
- Support design activities with business cases including economic analysis.
- Use statistics and statistical process controls to confirm plant operations, capability, reliability and quality.
- Conduct audits and perform facility inspections to review practices and drive improvement in production.
- Support the VP of Manufacturing and Area Manager to implement lean manufacturing principles in order to drive out waste.
- Help build a culture of continuous improvement and establish programs to increase uptime.
- Along with Area Manager, coordinate activities for PM and major shutdowns, including awarding contracts, procuring materials, and sequencing of work.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial or Engineering Management.
- 3-5 years of experience in a medium to large-scale chemical manufacturing facility.
- Background in process safety management.
- Demonstrated skills in designing equipment, plant and processes, including a history of managing capital projects for quality, schedule and cost adherence.
- Experience in transitioning development projects from lab into manufacturing.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and experience applying them in an industrial setting.
- 3D modeling, PLC (Program Logic Controllers) experience (Allen-Bradley)
- Working understanding of basic computer languages
- Data mining, analysis and statistical testing when appropriate.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Project. Microsoft D365 experience a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
