Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is looking for a Process Engineer to support the Memphis Cellulose facility. As a Process Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operations of our manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for optimizing production processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.

Our Team

The GP Memphis Cellulose location is a significant part of the Georgia-Pacific business, being one of the most diverse cotton cellulose producers in the market. This Memphis Mill manufactures various grades of specialty pulp that find use in a wide range of applications, including LED displays, coatings, plastics, currency papers, construction, pharmaceuticals, food additives, thickeners, and filter applications. The facility has a rich history, having been in operation since 1921, and is recognized for its contribution to the global supply of high-end products.

What You Will Do

  • Participate in mill improvement processes in the purification area to reduce manufacturing costs by optimizing and continuously improving throughput and reducing waste to include identifying and closing gaps with sustainability programs, addressing people, processes, and equipment.
  • Support an environment to achieve Health, Safety, and Environmental Excellence.
  • Assist in executing Georgia-Pacific's Operations Excellence reliability and asset strategy improvement for the Purification area.
  • Provide technical assistance and seek, share, and transfer knowledge to the operating team (work with equipment operators to create process work documents)
  • Identify, investigate, recommend, and implement equipment improvements, new systems and process changes that will improve productivity, yield, quality and/or reduce costs.
  • Develop initial engineering scope of work and financial analysis for capital and expense projects.
  • Partner with quality to determine a preliminary Root Cause response to customer complaints.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience in a Process Engineering, process optimization, or supervisory/leadership role within an industrial, manufacturing or pulp and paper environment.
  • Experience identifying problems and implementing solutions.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with continuous/deliberate improvement (e.g. yellow belt, green belt, lean, six sigma).
  • Experience in operations of a fiberline/ pulp department.
  • Experience implementing reliability engineering principles and maintenance strategies.
