Role Description
The Lead Process Controls Engineer Position is the champion of the Emerson DeltaV DCS system and other control systems and automation across the plant, working in support of all units. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership in the design and application of the best tools the industry has to offer. This position works closely with Process Engineers, Project Managers, contractors, maintenance I&E function, maintenance leadership, technical, and operation groups.

In this position you will:
- Responsible for architecture and function of the DeltaV system to maintain a system utilizing cutting edge technology. Includes review of new technologies and their applications.
- Continue to develop and maintain programming standards for use with outside contractors and internal staff.
- Develop and execute DeltaV automation across the site with Project Manager.
- Lead and execute DCS life cycle maintenance with impact partner and also support the sunset of older systems.
- Participate in control logic reviews and documentation.
- Participate in FAT's (Factory Acceptance Testing) for project support as a core team member.
- Participate in SAT's (Site Acceptance Testing) for project support as a core team member.
- Maintain drawings for motor elementaries and instrumentation loop drawings with use of AutoCAD and outside contractors.
- Train and develop IE staff to better utilize latest tools to improve efficiency of work functions.
- Ensure compliance with all company ES&H policies and procedures including OSHA PSM compliance, NFPA, MOC documentation, etc.
- Partner with process engineers to identify optimizations of the control schemes to deliver improvements.
- Mentor and training process engineers, process control engineers and I&E Technicians in the use of the DCS system.
- Provide expertise to the in the development of process control designs to support the key objectives for the plant operations including improvements in reliability, costs, production rates, yields, energy consumption, etc.
Requirements
- Education - BS in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline is required.
- Experience-A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Process Control Engineer in the chemical industry working with DCS & PLC installation and maintenance.
- Programming - High level of experience with DeltaV programming, configuration, and PCSD modules
- Physical Ability - climb stairs and ladders and lift 80 pounds.
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Process Safety - Working knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change processes.
- Programming - Emerson DeltaV programming experience
- Drafting - Working knowledge of drafting in AutoCAD LT for P&ID, general arrangements, and Motor Elementaries, Loop sheets, and network drawings..
- Operation of Process Equipment- Experience with operating Distillation, Reactors, and liquid-liquid separation and liquid-solid separations.
- Excellent organizational skills- ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Cross Functional Communication- Ability to interact with management, operators, I&E Technicians, and engineers to develop and deliver presentations, and facilitate inter-department projects.
