Overview
ThePrincipal Compensation Specialist is a recognized subject matter expert and highly experienced and specialized individual contributor focusing on compensation design, management, and analysis. Responsibilities typically include managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager. Within CB&I, this role directly reports to the Global Total Rewards Lead or Global HR Lead and routinely interacts internally with HR business partners, executive management and externally with third-party vendors.
Responsibilities
- Compensation program design (e.g., salary and incentive structures, pay policy, etc.);
- Compensation plan management (e.g., changes to base pay, short-term and long-term incentives, allowances, retention, deferred compensation, etc.);
- Compensation evaluation and analysis (e.g., job analysis, evaluation and classification, survey participation, policy, and rewards benchmarks and reviews);
- Communication (e.g. , guidance and compensation program features, plans, and options);
- Vendor management (e.g., consultants for program design and advice for the compensation plans)
- Structure compensation and benefits programs that align rewards with organization goals
- Analyze, model and administer merit and other salary increases
- Manage job evaluation systems and position description
- Analyze market data to assess the organization's competitive position
- Manage short and long term incentive programs
- Select and manage compensation & benefits consultants and global market surveys
- Work closely with HR business partners and leads
- Analyze compensation systems and releases and advise on needs
- Identify and mitigate potential issues with updates to system resulting from policy or regulatory changes, consulting with functional users to implement and test such changes
- Act as a liaison between the business and third-party support consultant
- Build, administer and advise on compensation programs and processes across the organization
- Produce and analyze compensation reports, reach conclusions, or make recommendations to achieve business goals
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements
- Support implementation of standard communications, processes, and reporting for HR annual cycle activities
Qualifications
- Typically 15-20 years since first degree and 15+ years of relevant experience
- 15+ years in a HR Total Rewards role
- BS in Business (HR Management) or equivalent certification/experience preferred
- Knowledge of CB&I systems (PeopleSoft, Taleo, ICIMS, JDE, Market Pay etc.) and HR Processes
Experience in the EPC industry desired
