The Technical Claims Learning Specialist (TCLS) serves as a claims technical subject matter expert for learning and development, having the ability to analyze learning and skill gaps within claims roles, and conduct data and claim file analysis to determine the root cause of on-the-job challenges or problems. The TCLS assists in the design of claims technical training programs, may facilitate technical training, provide coaching to adjusters and managers, and monitors technical training program results.
Responsibilities: - Serve as a technical lead and subject matter expert in the development and execution of Technical Claims training programs.
- Partners with Instructional Designer and department leadership to analyze learning and skill gaps within claims roles, analyze claims program materials, and confirm accurate departmental standards and operating procedures.
- Identify root cause of problems and advise of improvement opportunities in claims content utilized in learning experiences in adherence to claim handling and best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Complete claim handling special studies and research, identify skillsets, and assist in the design of claims technical training programs for each role.
- Possess jurisdictional knowledge of rules and regulations. Analyze, interpret, and apply laws pertaining to claims.
- Partners with Instructional Designer to collect, monitor and evaluate program data to determine effectiveness, relevance and quality of materials, content and instruction.
- Partner with the claims department, to monitor claim adjuster results post training program to look for ways to continuously improve upon programs.
- Maintains adjuster licensing and continuing education and stays informed on Claims and industry best practices and their impact on the organization.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 5-7 years workers’ compensation and / or liability claim handling experience.
- Experience in a claim leadership role preferred.
- Nationwide claims handling experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership to interact collaboratively and work effectively with a multi-functional team and throughout the organization; fosters an environment of shared responsibility and accountability.
- Advanced analytical skills.
- Ability to present and facilitate.
- Advanced computer skills to include Microsoft Products.
- Proven ability to manage organizational change, to involve and influence others to accept new ideas or innovative approaches, to lead in a team based organization.
- Ability to develop reports, metrics and improvement plans.
Education
- Adjuster license required. WC or GL/Auto
- BA/BS college degree preferred. Knowledge and skills acquired through undergraduate studies in the areas of finance, insurance, management or business administration a plus
- CPCU, ARM, AIC designations, or other industry training programs a plus
