What You Will Do
The Benefits and Compensation Specialist at Prime Controls manages and administers employee benefits programs and compensation plans within our organization. This role involves evaluating, recommending, and implementing benefits and compensation strategies that are competitive, sustainable, and aligned with the company’s goals and regulatory compliance. The specialist will work closely with HR colleagues, employees, and external partners to ensure our employees effectively communicate, understand, and value our benefits and compensation offerings.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls
Benefits Administration: Administer the organization's benefits programs, including retirement plans (such as 401(k)), leave policies, wellness programs, insurance policies, etc. This involves overseeing enrollment, changes, terminations, and managing the 401(k) plan, ensuring contributions, distributions, and loans are handled according to plan specifications and regulatory requirements.
Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, including detailed questions about the 401(k) plan and resolving issues as they arise.
Compensation Management: Support the development and implementation of compensation strategies and structures, ensuring they are competitive, equitable, and compliant with legal requirements. Conduct job evaluations, participate in salary surveys, and analyze compensation data to recommend adjustments.
Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all benefits and compensation programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare and submit required reports and disclosures and keep abreast of legislative Compensation and Benefits changes.
Vendor Management: Work with insurance brokers, benefits carriers, and other vendors to negotiate coverage services and costs. Evaluate vendor performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.
Employee Communication: Develop and deliver clear, concise communications regarding benefits and compensation, including new hire orientations, benefits enrollment materials, and compensation updates. Provide training and support to employees to help them understand and utilize their benefits effectively.
Program Analysis and Improvement: Regularly review and analyze the effectiveness of current benefits and compensation programs. Recommend improvements or new programs based on analysis, employee feedback, and industry trends.
Budget and Cost Management: Assist in developing the annual budget for employee benefits and compensation. Monitor spending against budget and analyze variances to identify cost-saving opportunities.
What You Will Bring
The Basic
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
3+ years of experience in benefits and compensation, HR, or related areas.
Strong understanding of benefits and compensation principles, laws, and regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and analyze data.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, emphasizing confidentiality and sensitivity in dealing with employee information.
Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
The Preferred
Previous experience in a manufacturing or construction company.
Strong experience in compensation design
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) certification preferred.
