OVERVIEW
As a member of the school’s Student Services team, the School Social Worker helps to ensure that supports are in place to ensure each child’s success. This includes, but is not limited to, family engagement for school-based support, collaboration with community agencies in securing needed resources for unhoused students and families, participation in school-wide support teams, and collaboration with school administration. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with all educators at the campus.
Reports to: Chief Student Services Officer (CSSO)
Key Responsibilities
- Implement therapeutic groups for identified students, including social skills and emotional regulation
- Development of student interventions, including behavior plans, and support data collection and progress monitoring
- Complete student safety/suicide risk assessments as needed
- Respond to student or family crisis situations as needed
- Use clinical training to de-escalate emotionally/physically dysregulated students experiencing crises
- Act as a mandated reporter and complete Childline reports in response to allegations of abuse
- Communicate regularly with families to develop a supportive home-school relationship
- Conduct home/community visits with families as needed
- Support students and families in connecting with necessary resources (i.e. medical, housing, food, etc.)
- Complete regular attendance monitoring and collaborate with families and staff to develop successful attendance plan
- Collaborate with student services, administrators, staff, and school-based teams in addressing Whole Child student needs (including creating and implementing behavior plans, tracking data, etc.)
- Participate in Student Assistance Program (SAP) team, Multi-tier System of Support (MTSS) team (Whole Child Team) and Crisis Management Team
- Participate in Individualized Education Program teams (meeting participation, IEP counseling, completing social history, etc.) as needed
- Fully participate in opportunities for professional growth
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
- Current license as a Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in PA preferred
- Certified Home & School Visitor and/or Pennsylvania PK-12 School Social Worker preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years School Social work experience preferred
- Familiarity with charter schools and elementary school-aged students
- Minimum starting salary $46,263 up to a maximum starting salary of $52,964
