Vaccination for COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) is mandatory for all MSK staff. Staff are considered fully vaccinated upon completion of a primary vaccination series for COVID-19 (i.e., one dose of a single dose vaccine or a final dose of a multi-dose vaccine series). Exceptions from the COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccine requirements are permitted for those who request and receive an approved medical, religious, or fully remote exemption. Requests for exemption can take up to two weeks to review. Vaccination or an approved exemption is required to start work.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate interested in joining an NCI-funded research group focused on understanding the genetic architecture of breast cancer and identifying novel molecular biomarkers for gastrointestinal cancers. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be mentored by Dr. Xiang Shu for a period of two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. There are three major ongoing research areas at Dr. Shu’s lab: 1) Metabolomics/proteomics studies of gastrointestinal cancer using prediagnostic blood samples or pre-cancer tissues; 2) Single cell omics and functional investigation to identify putative causal variants, susceptibility transcription factors, and genes underlying triple negative breast cancer; 3) Mendelian randomization analysis related to cancer etiology. The ideal candidate should have:
- PhD degree in epidemiology, bioinformatics, data science, or a related field
- Solid methodological training in Molecular/Genetic Epidemiology, be comfortable working with large data sets, proficient in at least one of the statistical programming languages R/Python and have experience working on Unix/Linux systems and basic shell scripting
- Experience in GWAS and (bulk/single cell) omics data analysis
- Experience in handling data from large population-based cohort, UK Biobank, EHR is desired but not required
