The Inflammation, Cardiometabolic Disorders, and Center for Research Acceleration and Digital Innovation Departments at Amgen seek a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to conduct a transdisciplinary project and study the fundamental biology of conventional and unconventional T cellsin Atherosclerosis.

The postdoctoral fellow will be well-positioned to identify and characterize the T cell populations and The disease-associated cell states in human atherosclerotic plaques using state-of-the-art single-cell omics tools. The postdoctoral fellow will also have the opportunity to interrogate the role of specific T-cell subpopulations in the development of atherosclerosis. This position is ideal for those seeking to understand The fundamentals of therapeutic discovery and Translational biology while honing their skills as an independent investigator focused on basic science.

The postdoctoral fellow will be encouraged and expected to develop an independent line of research, evaluate and interpret the results of scientific experiments and complex integrated datasets, present at scientific conferences, and publish in leading journals. The successful candidate will operate in a highly collaborative environment, with ample opportunities for cross-departmental interactions at Amgen and The potential to collaborate with leading academic labs to uncover novel biological insights into disease pathology.

The postdoctoral position is for 3 years with the option to extend for an additional year.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD in immunology, molecular biology, cell biology, and physiology.

  • Previous research experience in one of the following areas: immunology, T cell biology, cardiovascular biology, bioinformatics, or computational biology is preferred.

  • Expertise with in vivo rodent models, multi-color flow cytometry, isolation and culture of primary cells, cell engineering, scRNA-seq, and/or bioinformatics analysis is also preferred.

  • Record of independent critical thinking and The ability to design, execute, and interpret experiments, as exemplified by high-quality publications
