We are in search of a highly motivated Research Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in a protein engineering campaign aimed at creating new therapeutic optogenetic tools. The Research Technicianwill support research scientists in a range of activities including culturing bacterial and mammalian cells, DNA assembly & mutagenesis, protein purification, high-throughput electrophysiology assays, microscopy, and spectroscopy.
Role responsibilities:
- Perform assays of protein function
- Perform molecular biology assays
- Perform cell culture tasks
- Use lab automation equipment effectively
- Keep workspace clean and organized
- Manage reagents and inventory
- Follow standard operating procedures and clearly communicate with the team
- Maintain accurate and organized records of experimental procedures and results
Key qualifications:
- >1 year experience in life-sciences research
- Experience with mammalian cell culture technique
- Experience with molecular biology techniques such as plasmid isolation, assembly, and mutagenesis
- Organized and conscientious
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with scientific computing
- Experience with protein purification & bacterial culture
Pay Range:
Science is required under California law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. We determine your level based on your interview performance and make an offer based on the indicated compensation band. The base compensation range for this full-time position is $30 - $40 per hour + equity + benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in these numbers
