Job Description
ADRx seeks an outstanding Associate Scientist to join our research team engaged in the discovery of therapeutics for amyloid diseases. This position will support the ADRx research team in the implementation of research studies evaluating drug candidates. Experience in cell culture is required.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSC), IPSC-derived neurons, and carrying out qPCR analysis. Strong skills in biochemistry are a plus. Good laboratory safety practices are a basic expectation. The candidate will be supported by scientists at ADRx but will be expected to be a self-starter.
The duties of the job include experimental design and execution, data analysis and interpretation, & problem solving. Strong verbal and written skills are needed with a routine requirement to share scientific findings with the team. The candidate will have an important role in the generation of key datasets that enable the identification and progression of clinical drug candidates.
A flexible attitude and approach to work and a sense of fascination about science are key attributes in this start-up company.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Cell culture, cell transfection, molecular biology, cell signaling, microscopy, high content imaging, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, qPCR, western blot, and ELISA
- Maintenance of cell culture stocks and research facility
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- Maintain detailed record keeping of experiments
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 2-3 years of scientific experience.
- Degrees in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related area.
- Experience in cell culture maintenance of various types.
- Experience in maintaining a scientific lab notebook.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
Preferred qualifications
- Master's degree
- A background in molecular biology (recombinant DNA cloning, PCR, qPCR, plasmid preparation, DNA sequencing analysis, site-directed mutagenesis) is preferred.
- Experience with induced pluripotent stem cells (IPSCs)
- Experience in amyloid, aggregation, liquid phase separation, and/or biomolecular condensation
- Experience in the use of animal models of disease in drug testing is an advantage
- Knowledge of large and small molecule drug development
