2nd Shift - 4 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Plastic Process Technician
Purpose of Position / Core Responsibilities
Performs normal Plastic Injection Molding setup functions according to established procedures. Changes molds, downloads computer programs and optimizes machine performance. Has primary responsibility for the dimensional quality of parts produced. Responsible for starting of new jobs, troubleshooting and resolving process problems and optimizing machine cycles.
Primary Duties
- Recognizes the various types of cosmetic and dimensional defects and modifies the Molding PROCESS within allowable limits to eliminate these defects
- Understands the customer’s cosmetic and dimensional requirements for the part being produced
- Measures parts for dimensional conformance using available metrology tools and instruments
- Stops the production process if the root cause of a defect cannot be eliminated. Reports the problem to the shift supervisor
- Performs the startup and processing of jobs
- Solves process, mold and material problems on the production floor. Assists in optimizing cycles to meet or exceed standard requirements
- Provides documentation on process parameters
- Set up functions for mold changes
- Assists with Insert changes as required
- Suggests ideas to provide methods of improvement in the company
- Maintains a clean and organized work area
Secondary Responsibilities
- Act as the back-up to the Value Stream Leader (VSL) in the event of absences (scheduled or otherwise)
- Work with the VSL to understand shift labor management
- Train staff employees to perform process and material mixing functions

Experience and Preferred Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Plastics Injection Molding: 1 year (Required)
- Mold Setting & Processing: 2 years (Required)
- Solid verbal and written communication skills are a must
Physical Demands
- Good hand/eye coordination
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Significant body flexing and twisting, bending
- Long periods of time standing
- Ability to use tools necessary in production set-up and maintenance

- Daily Gemba Metrics (area specific metrics tbd)
- Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost as measured by ‘Best In Class’ & financial performance
- Implementation of lean conversions
Additional Notes
Must successfully complete background check and drug screen prior to start
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $30.50 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
