Major Purpose
Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project.
Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.
May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel.
Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors.
Requirements
As an Aftertreatment Performance Analysis Engineer - Contingent for Client Power Systems located in Waterloo, IA, you will... Develop and validate 1D chemical kinetic models for relevant aftertreatment components such as Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Ammonia Oxidation Catalyst (Client), DOC catalyzed DPF (DOCF), etc.
Initiate, plan, coordinate and perform analysis projects using 1D aftertreatment models and other supporting models to investigate current and future emissions reduction techniques
Maintain an understanding of aftertreatment devices and emission reduction strategies for diesel and alternative fuel engines
Provide well thought out documentation on analysis process, results, and setup procedures, ensure consistent and high-quality models to support deployment
What Skills You Need
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
1 or more years of experience working with aftertreatment components and system analysis
1 or more years of experience in engineering model development
Fundamental understanding of chemical reaction mechanism, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and computer programming
What Makes You Stand Out
Master of Science engineering degree or higher
Model development experience with GT-Suite and Matlab/Simulink
Industrial experience in heavy duty diesel engines aftertreatment and emission development
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or others with aftertreatment modeling experiences
