Primary Location:
- Candidates can originate from anywhere in the United States
- Once hired you will deploy (travel) across the United States to client sites as needed.
- You will work remote from home when not deployed.
- All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in public administration, emergency management, public safety, humanitarian aid, business administration, or related field. Standard office procedures and basic computer operations to include a working and functional use (preferred intermediate to advanced) of all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel as well as smartphone /text usage.
- Working in a team environment and providing support to multiple efforts simultaneously.
- Developing written reports, memos, plans, presentations, and other similar professional products.
- 3-7 years of professional experience working in a related field, including: emergency management, public safety, public health, public administration, crisis management, continuity of government/business, etc.
- 2-4 years developing emergency management plans and products, such as: emergency operations plans, after action reports, resilience plans, pre-disaster recovery plans, hazard mitigation plans, threat hazard identification and risk assessments, stakeholder preparedness reviews, capability gap analysis, and regional catastrophic plans, training and exercise materials, continuity plans, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Adapting content into templates from available source materials, preparing written reports, conducting analysis, and developing original content
- Providing detailed notes from meetings/workshops with some review from other team members, as needed.
- Demonstrating self-motivation, time management, organization, working as part of a team, and building positive internal and external relationships.
- Working in a related field, including emergency management, public safety, public health, public administration, crisis management, continuity of government/business, etc. Intermediate level knowledge of:
- Emergency management concepts, including disaster phases, core capabilities, incident command, community lifelines, resilience, and national preparedness.
- Key doctrine and guidance, including but not limited to: Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101, National Disaster Recovery Framework (NDRF), National Incident Management System (NIMS), Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP), as well as other local, state, tribal, and federal guidance.
- Incident Command System and National Incident Management System, via the completion of EMI - IS 100, 200, 238, 700, 800; ICS 300 and 400; HSEEP (E/L/K-0146), FEMA’s Professional Development Series.
- An area of interest within the emergency management industry for focused growth opportunities (e.g., Planning, Continuity, Risk Assessment, Recovery, Exercises, etc.) Intermediate level skills and ability to:
- Use provided technology, tools, and applications to create, organize and maintain project files.
- Read and interpret source materials, conduct simple analysis, and draw conclusions and make possible recommendations. • Communicate effectively orally for team meetings, project briefings, client presentations, and outreach and research calls.
- Communicate effectively in writing, developing written reports, drafting memos and client emails, summarizing research, developing original content, and meeting notes.
- Apply technology and applications, such as Microsoft Office software suite, project planning tools (e.g., Smartsheets or MS Project), as well as web tools (e.g., surveys, schedulers, virtual meeting applications), geospatial products, and interactive maps, effectively.
- Work as part of a team across various disciplines and projects, build positive relationships with clients, appropriately address conflict resolution, and promote the general welfare and common goals of a diverse set of personnel, clients, stakeholders, and leadership.
