Our Team
Located on the Newton-Wellesley Hospital main campus (Green Building), our Center for Weight Loss Surgery offers the following services:
- Bariatric surgery procedures including laparoscopic and single-incision sleeve gastrectomy
- Laparoscopic gastric bypass and revision surgery
- Laparoscopic SIPS- DS (small intestinal pylorus sparing-duodenal switch)
- Laparoscopic removal of gastric bands
- Laparoscopic conversion of gastric band procedures to sleeve gastrectomy or to gastric bypass
- Nutrition education and counseling
- Initial psychological evaluations and referrals to counseling
- New-patient meeting and information
- Peer support groups
- Referrals to cosmetic services after surgery
- Access to Newton-Wellesley Hospital's Shipley Fitness Center to incorporate fitness and well-being into care plans
- Long-term medical follow-up and advanced, state-of-the-art services
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Per DiemIntake Coordinator to support the Center for Weight Loss Surgery onsite, with remote opportunities as well. We can work with the candidate's availability when assigning shifts! This is an exciting role primary responsible in evaluating patients prior to bariatric surgery. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about nutrition and Weight Loss consulting.
Responsibilities Include:
- The behavioral health recommendations take into consideration the patient's strengths, resources, insurance coverage, family system, and motivation for change. The behavioral health clinician collaborates with surgeons, dieticians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nursing and administrative staff to facilitate individualized and effective treatment recommendations and planning.
- Completes all medical record documentation as per departmental/Hospital policy including necessary paperwork in a timely and thorough manner
- Facilitates support groups based on interest and availability for bariatric population.
- Identifies documents and reports quality of care issues in accordance with Hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including but not limited to occurrence screening, patient incidents and risk management issues.
- Collaborate with external treatment providers involved with bariatric surgery candidates as needed using HIPAA policies for confidentiality and protection of patient information. Documents all communication with external providers in the medical record according to Hospital policy.
Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited graduate program in Psychology, Social Work or Advanced Practice Nursing
- Graduate and post-graduate education must include adult normal growth and behavior theory and adult psychopathology.
- Licensed in MA at the Licensed Independent Social Work level or PhD or Advanced Practice Nurse Level
- Must include work with obese adults and families with acute and chronic illness in a hospital or healthcare setting
