The Payroll Specialist ensures the timely and accurate payment of administrative and/or factory employees. This includes the preparation, documentation, reviewing/auditing payroll reports and completion of payroll. This position is part of a team of payroll professionals that process payroll transactions, answer employee/customer inquiries, and resolve problems within a designated timeframe. Works closely with operations teams and site HR leads to ensure timely collection of employee time records and employment status change records.
Responsibilities
- The Payroll Specialist ensures the timely and accurate payment of administrative and/or factory employees.
- Process and audit weekly hourly payrolls with a high level of accuracy, ensuring that all data entered are correct and complete on a continual basis
- Prepares, verifies and amends time records from the Kronos system
- Monitor and administer verifications of employment, processing garnishments, tax, income withholding support notices and other miscellaneous deductions.
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns
- Process accurate and timely year-end reports (W-2, W-2c, etc)
- Develop and review reports essential to maintaining accurate payroll records and documentation
- Maintain and track various payroll reporting including but not limited to light duty, temporary employee hours and short term disability.

Experience & Qualifications
- 2-5 years’ previous experience in payroll position in a manufacturing union environment
- Associate's degree in business or accounting or equivalent experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is a plus
- Previous experience working with Kronos, JDE, UKG Pro and UKG Dimensions/UKG Pro Workforce Management
- Knowledge of HRIS software and databases.
- Knowledge of legislation and regulations of the field
- Strong clerical, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and manage several projects
- Detail oriented and analytical
- Experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be trustworthy with strong ethics and integrity
