The Payroll Specialist will support our organization working part time (24-32 hours per week) in performing the payroll processing and accounting functions with our accounting team.
Job Responsibilities

- Compiles and inputs employee time and payroll data. Reviews information for completeness and accuracy
- Computes employees’ time worked, car allowances, reimbursements, etc.
- Processes wage deductions, including garnishments and associated paperwork
- Processes benefit withholdings, including 401(k)
- Maintains and updates prevailing wage
- Prepares paychecks and distributes once approved
- Handles all related payroll reports and necessary journal entries; applies employee hours to the correct accounts
- Review all payroll entries and reports for accuracy and necessary approvals
- Research and resolve questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll information, including garnishments, reimbursements, direct deposits, prevailing wage rates, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions, etc.
- Checks records and documents for clerical and mathematical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established standards and procedures
- Prepares Certified Payroll Report, ensuring accuracy and timely filing
- Reconciles and completes monthly union contribution reports
- Responsible for preparing and filing quarterly employment taxes and annual W-2 reporting
- Assist with accounts payable as needed
- Provides support to the department as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Two-year college degree in Business Administration/Accounting with four years' experience in payroll processing
- Understanding job costing and union payroll a plus
- High Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Software: Sage Intaact
