PAYROLL & HR SPECIALIST – Full-Time
The Payroll & HR Specialist is responsible for payroll processing, payroll compliance, and other various payroll-related reporting and compliance. Additionally, the Payroll & HR Specialist will administer leave (both FMLA and Short/Long-Term disability policies), reconcile HR/benefit-related billing and invoicing, will answer various HR-related questions via phone and email, and will be responsible for maintaining the Company’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS). Lastly, the Payroll & HR Specialist will work on special projects as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
- Responsible for running payroll bi-weekly, and ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and local laws.
- Administers, tracks, and processes leave requests.
- Processes Unemployment Claims and Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Maintains accurate employment records through HRIS.
- Reconciles medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, Life Insurance, and any other HR/benefit-related bills and invoices.
- Provides excellent customer service to all Company employees and candidates through email, phone, and onboarding systems.

- Upholds all company policies and practices.
- Performs/completes other duties or special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (required for candidates to be considered)
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year of payroll experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous HR-related clerical experience
- Previous multi-state payroll experience

- Must be able to remain organized and have attention to detail.
- Strong sense of urgency, flexibility and willingness to adapt to change.
- Proficiency and comfort using a computer and other technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to continuously sit/remain in a seated position at a computer, communicate with customers, co-workers, vendors, either in-person or over the phone, including speaking, hearing, and sight in order to assist vendors and coworkers; utilize fine finger movement (i.e. keyboard operating, writing, etc.) and tactile/touch to assist with products, equipment, etc., and grasping, gripping, holding with hands and/or fingers.
- Must be able to continuously communicate with customers, co-workers, vendors, either in-person or over the phone, including speaking, hearing, and sight in order to assist vendors and coworkers.
- Must be able to frequently drive and/or travel during job performance, stand/walk, push/pull, lift/carry up to 10 pounds, balance on uneven surfaces/ground and bend at the waist.
- Must be able to rarely kneel and squat, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds, and reach overhead with arms raised above shoulder height/forward reaching.
- While working, this position may be exposed to tolerance of noise from products and environments, tolerance of smells/scents of products (i.e. candles, potpourri, lotions, etc.).
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
This is a regular, full-time, hourly position that is deemed “non-exempt” by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Pursuant to the FLSA, any hours worked over 40 will be paid at time-and-one-half as overtime. Typical office hours are Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
