Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for accurately processing payroll for our employees and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of payroll processes.
Responsibilities:
- Process payroll accurately and on time using payroll software
- Calculate wages, deductions, and overtime based on timesheets and attendance records
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits to employees
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or errors
- Maintain accurate records of employee information, tax withholdings, and deductions
- Prepare reports for management on payroll expenses and trends
- Collaborate with HR department to ensure accurate employee data in the payroll system
- Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in accounting or related field is a plus
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, laws, and regulations
- Proficient in using 10-key typing for data entry accuracy
- Familiarity with payroll software such as QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, or Kronos
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze data for accuracy
- Knowledge of financial concepts related to payroll, such as debits and credits
- Experience with account reconciliation is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively
