Job Description
We are seeking an experienced individual who has strong attention to detail and the utmost respect for confidentiality and professionalism. The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for processing two weekly and two bi-weekly U.S. payrolls (3 per week). Working with the accounting department to ensure proper reconciliation of payroll and GL accounts. This role requires an analytical, highly detail-orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration.
The Payroll Administrator is accountable for ensuring that payrolls are processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with all collective bargaining agreements, company policies, and government regulations. This role will also assist in other areas of Human Resources as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These include but are not limited to the following:
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions and benefits enrollments.
- Ensures compliance with wage and hour laws and best practices for payroll.
- Facilitates audits for payroll and other HR functions.
- Identifies and recommends updates to software, systems, and procedures.
- Ensures accuracy of all data in HRIS to provide employees and vendors with accurate eligibility information
- Assists with new-hire orientation as needed
- Perform quality checks of payroll and other HR-related data.
- Interpret payroll and benefits regulations and advise management on the same
- Provide necessary reports and information analysis to allow for data-driven decisions.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Associate's degree in accounting, human resources, business administration, or a closely related field.
- 7+ years’ experience processing payroll
- Experience using ADP Workforce Now or a closely related HRIS system
- Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes, and a best practice focus for design.
- Knowledge of benefits administration and other HR functions
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software
- Excellent written, spoken, and listening skills to ensure a proper understanding of payroll and benefits requirements
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, human resources, or closely related field.

- Experience in unionized workforce
- Experience processing payrolls with varying work rules
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to sit and use their hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: This is an onsite position. The noise level is minimal and standard for an office environment.
