Job Description
Performs more complete administrative support duties in a medical clinic office.
Hours: 16 hours; Saturdays & Sundays - 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM
Location: 800 Washington St. Boston, Massachusetts 02111
*Candidates must be able to attend a full day of virtual training held on Monday, in-person orientation on Tuesday. Required Epic training held on Wednesday and Thursday.*
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Has primary responsibility for scheduling all tests, and for scheduling surgeries as applicable.
- Obtains pre-certification and referral data from patients.
- Acts as liaison with Patients Accounts to track payments,
- Receive phone calls, and obtains patient medical records.
- Encounters patients
- Answers phones, takes messages and assists patients and families in resolving issues.
- Schedules interpreters for patient visits as needed.
- Schedules follow-up appointments.
- Verifies insurance information, requests and processes insurance referrals as required.
- Researches and resolves insurance issues.
- Enters data into computer files.
- Collects co-payments as applicable.
- Orders labs and x-rays in Order Entry Data System.
- Processes inpatient, procedures, and satellite billing. Prepares Batch headers and sends to appropriate place.
- Processes clinic schedules for satellite clinics as applicable.
- Responsible for medical billing and transcription.
- Responsible for sorting mail, faxing necessary records, and filing.
- Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
Qualifications
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Prior experience working in a clinic or inpatient unit preferred.
- Computer literacy required including familiarity with word processing programs and electronic spreadsheets and facility in learning new applications. Ability to learn and use SMS and other NEMC network programs required.
- Some knowledge of third party billing preferred.
- Require excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidential medical information.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
EDUCATION:
- High School diploma with specialized training in business office skills.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years medical office experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above, may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
